I am a proud family-oriented person, business manager/owner,
recycling advocate and army reserve soldier. I lead and
manage two successful local businesses providing me with an
enriched understanding of the critical value that stable,
sustainable businesses add to the city.

My vision for Dunedin includes maximising inner-city development, mobility and parking, upgrading recycling infrastructure and processing, advocating purpose-built business parks, and maintaining a focused investment in the city, sharing participation opportunities with local businesses. I’m enthusiastic about influencing and managing this change and instilling a sense of community pride through effective community-focused action and investment.

Local business is the beating heart of our community. Whether you own a small bakery or a large manufacturing business, council needs to engage and support local businesses to thrive. Business owners encounter too much red tape and feel like their needs are not being met. I support a focus on the growth and wellbeing of our local, home-grown businesses.

For tangible environmental action, we need to improve our recycling infrastructure right now. We send more recyclable materials to landfill than we do to be recycled. New Zealand must become a circular economy and it can start right here in Dunedin, with better sorting infrastructure and technology.

Getting around our community is a real issue for all of us, whether it is by car, bus, bicycle or foot. We need to have a public transport shake up and look beyond the ‘norms’ we have been accustomed to. Mobility around our city should not take a one-size-fits-all approach and more parking should be a priority for council.

Our council is not listening to us. With a 25% satisfaction rating from the 2021 resident’s opinion survey, it’s clearly time for leaders who focus their attention on the needs of the community to step up. I am confident I have the passion and experience to provide guidance and cohesion to Council and accountability to residents.
I’m also standing for the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board. Our Community Boards truly understand the issues faced locally. The council needs to recognize and respect this relationship, not ignore it.

I’m going to be present at local election and community events around the city over the coming weeks and I hope to share my ideas and vision with you.
